Even in a post apocalyptic setting whatever the next life form is, will still want to fucking RAWK!
There is an RPG setting called #afterthebomb by @palladiumbooks that I fell in love with in my youth.

A spin-off of #tmntandotherstrangeness it take place after a nuclear fall out instance and humanity is almost gone and the worlds animals have mutated into humanoid like sentient being and become tot ape over for us… it featured book of certain territories of the US and the world, a great character building aspect to it letting you mutate various animals and such, and an undergoing story line that made it just fun to read.
I never got to run a full campaign in this since most people want to play the original #tmnt or #rifts which is still awesome but the idea of Porcupine ninja who throws his own quills at you would soooo cool!
I made a hialeah setting for and tried to figure out what the local fauna that would be mutated would look like.
Here is a punk band that lives ina junkyard consisting of a possum, junkyard dog, insane cat and box turtle rocking.
